Dr. Preti

Dr. H. Alejandro Preti was born in Argentina in 1961. He was educated at Colegio Sagrada Familia, Azul, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 1968, and The International School in Maracay, Venezuela, 1973. He received his high-school education from Saint George's College, Buenos Aires 1978. He obtained his M. D. degree from Facultad de Medicina, Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1985. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at CEMIC, Buenos Aires, Argentina 1989 and at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, 1991. He completed a Fellowship in Medical Oncology at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1994. He was Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Lymphoma at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center from 1994-1996. He also was the Medical Director for the International Patient Center at M. D. Anderson from 1994 through 1996. He remained a consultant in the Department of Lymphoma-Myeloma at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center until August 2005. Currently, he holds a voluntary faculty position at Baylor College of Medicine as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine. He chairs the Lymphoma-Myeloma Tumor Board at The Methodist Hospital although in his office he treats patients with all types of malignant tumors. He is the principal investigator of a few selected clinical trials and collaborates in several others with his colleagues at The Methodist Hospital Research Institute. He is one of the clinical investigators for the BCM/TMH Lymphoma SPORE. He is an active participant in the Thoracic Oncology Tumor Board and the Gastrointestinal Tumor Board at Methodist. He served as the medical director for M8NW -the Oncology Inpatient Unit- at The Methodist Hospital in Houston until January of 2011. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Medical Oncology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was selected as one of the Best Doctors in America in the years 2007-2008 and 2011-2012 and one of America's Top Oncologists in 2009.

Dr. Preti is the father of three. He enjoys cooking for family and friends, is an amateur astronomer, and an avid soccer and tennis player.
